Trisha Krishnan, Vikram pay tribute to Captain Vijayakanth

Vijayakanth died on Thursday in Chennai at the age of 71 after testing positive for COVID-19. Actor Trisha Krishnan took to X to pay tribute to the late actor Vijayakanth. She wrote, "RIP Captain. Lots of love and strength to Premalatha Ma'am and his family. I'll forever remember your kindness."Actor Vikram also paid tribute to the late actor and wrote on X, "Saddened to hear the passing of one of the most loving and caring beings ever. We will miss you, Captain!! #RIP."Earlier in the day, the party informed through a post on its official X handle that Vijayakanth was admitted to a hospital and put on ventilator support after he complained of breathing problems.His mortal remains were brought to his residence and will be taken to the DMDK office shortly.Earlier, in November, Vijayakanth was admitted to MIOT Hospital in Chennai as his health deteriorated.Suffering from coughing and throat pain, he was under the observation of doctors for 14 days.Widely known as 'Captain', Vijayakanth's life is marked by a successful career in the Tamil film industry.He was featured in 154 movies before venturing into politics.While holding a position at Nadigar Sangam (officially known as the South Indian Artistes' Association (SIAA)), Vijayakanth brought revolutionary changes to the South film industry.He also served as a member of the Legislative Assembly twice, representing the Virudhachalam and Rishivandiyam constituencies.Meanwhile, on the work front, Trisha was last seen in 'Leo.' Helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the movie also featured Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Sarja.Vikram, on the other hand, was last seen in Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan,' which was released on September 30, 2022.

Sanjay Dutt comes on board for Vijay's 'Thalapathy 67'

In the poster, Sanjay could be seen in a menacing avatar and his thoughts about joining the film are also shared. The note reads, "When I heard the one-liner of Thalapathy 67, I knew in that exact moment that I had to be a part of this film and I am thrilled to start this journey."Tentatively titled 'Thalapathy 67', the film also stars Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja and Gautham Menon are also a part of the film.Trisha and Vijay will be sharing the screen space after 14 years.On Wednesday, the makers of the film shared a poster of Trisha which they captioned, "Extremely happy to welcome @trishtrashers mam onboard for #Thalapathy67."In the poster, Trisha shared her thoughts which reads, "Grateful to be a part of this iconic project featuring some of my favourite people and an immensely talented team. Exciting times ahead."'Thalalathy 67' marks the third collaboration of Thalapathy Vijay and 7 Screen Studio after giving two blockbusters, 'Master' and 'Varisu'.The official release date of the film is still awaited.Apart from this, Sanjay Dutt will also be seen in a sci-fi horror comedy 'The Virgin Tree', which also stars Sunny Singh, Mouni Roy, and Palak Tiwari in lead roles, as well as an untitled comedy alongside actor Arshad Warsi.

Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan -2' release date set for 2023

Ponniyin Selvan 1', the makers are all set to begin the post-production work for the second instalment of the film.Helmed by Mani Ratnam, the film stars south actors Vikram, Trisha Krishnan Karthik Sivakumar, Jayam Ravi and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles.The film has collected over Rs 300 crores gross worldwide in all languages.Talking about the second part, the makers are all set to begin the post-production work of the film which was shot simultaneously with 'Ponniyin Selvan -1' unlike 'Baahubali' and 'KGF'.The film is all set to hit the theatres in the summer of 2023. The final release date of the film is still awaited.Taking to Twitter, Trade analyst, Taran Adarsh shared a post about the development of second part of the film which he captioned, "'PS1' - 'PS2' INTERESTING DEVELOPMENT... #ManiRatnam's #PS1 is a BOXOFFICE MONSTER, rewriting record books in #TN [the #Hindi version is also faring well]... Trisha's father passes away

Actress Trisha's (who made her debut in Bollywood with Khatta Meetha ) father Krishnan (66) passed away in Hyderabad yesterday evening due to a cardiac arrest. He was working as the General Manager of a five star hotel. After he complained of chest pain, he was immediately rushed to Yashoda Hospital. Both Trisha and her mother Uma flew to Hyderabad after hearing the news. It's still unclear if the last rites will be performed in Chennai or Hyderabad. Bollywood Hungama wholeheartedly prays for the departed soul to rest in peace.
