Urvashi Sharma to make her television debut

Urvashi Sharma, who has been away from the limelight for a while now, has decided to further pursue her love for acting. The actress was on a break enjoying motherhood and spending time with her daughter but has now found a role intriguing enough with which she will mark her debut on television. The said show is titled Ek Maa Jo Lakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma, with Urvashi Sharma playing the titular role of a godmother. The series will trace the journey of a mother who believes in working for her kids and the society as she becomes a prominent figure, a godmother who is loved and respected by many. Talking about her role, Urvashi added that it is that of a strong, independent woman who learns to fight the world, face tribulations with courage as she is left to fend for herself and her kids after her husband leaves her mid-way. From falling prey to mens lustful motives to learning to deal with atrocities imposed by the society to raising voice for others, the show deals with the life of a woman who tries to create a space for herself in a patriarchal society. Urvashi Sharma aka Raina Joshi tied the knot with producer-actor Sachiin Joshi in 2012 and the couple has a two year old daughter named Samaira.

Shabana Azmi, who was last seen in Neerja, is all set to charm the audience with her skills on Television this time.

After starring in season 2 of Anil Kapoor's TV show 24, Shabana Azmi will be seen as a mafia queen in the TV serial Ek Maa Jo Lakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma. Shabana will be replacing Urvashi Sharma who has opted out of the show due to the time leap in the story. Azmi began shooting for the same on Tuesday.

Ek Maa Jo Lakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma focuses on a female don Jenabai Daruwali, a bootlegger, who was one of the famous female mafias in the 70s. She was also associated with big names in underworld like Haji Mastan, Vardharajan Mudaliar, Karim Lala and Dawood Ibrahim who addressed her as maasi. The show presents a story of how an emotional, vulnerable mother turned into a Godmother.

Talking about her character to a leading daily, Shabana Azmi said that her character Zeenatbi in Amma is more of a Robinhood character where some think of her as a hero, some as a villain. She said that her character is illiterate but street-smart and cunning.

In 1999, Shabana Azmi had played a similar character in the film The Godmother for which she bagged a National award.

Sachiin Joshi and Urvashi Sharma aka Raina Joshi were blessed with a baby daughter on January 21 at Hinduja hospital, Mumbai. And now with the arrival of the new member in their family, Sachiin and Raina have decided to name their daughter Samaira.

Talking about it, an elated Sachiin Joshi said, "I am happy to have a new angel in my life. I can't express more gratitude to God. This year just keeps getting better and better. I thank God. I also thank Raina for giving me such a special gift and bearing the pain on my behalf. We have named our daughter Samaira, means princess. the name also has our initials. It is truly a wonderful feeling."

"She is adorable. She is pink and we both keep fighting who she looks like. I feel she look like me and Sachiin feels she looks like him. Lol. Both the families are happy. I can't express my feelings. Can't thank Sachiin enough for giving me this gift. Motherhood is amazing" expressed a thrilled Raina.

Late night on 20th January, Raina Joshi delivered a baby girl making Sachiin Joshi a proud father. He tied the knot with model turned actress (then Urvashi Sharma) in 2012. Sachiin Joshi who just acquired Telugu Warriors in Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) was busy practicing in Hyderabad as CCL kicks off on 25th January. He flew on emergency basis post midnight on hearing the news of his baby girl to be by his wife's side.

Speaking of the new entrant to the family, the ecstatic father quotes, "It has been a great start for me this year with the CCL league and now arrival of my beautiful angel". Sachiin will soon resume the practice at Hyderabad.
