Photograph', actor Sanya Malhotra went back in time and dropped a string of photographs from the movie's promotions at the Berlin Film Festival.In one of the images, Sanya can be seen posing with her co-star Nawazuddin Siddiqui and director Ritesh Batra on the red carpet."3 years of Photograph," she captioned the post.Helmed by Ritesh Batra, 'Photograph' revolves around street photographer Rafi, played by Nawaz, who clicks photographs of tourists at the Gateway of India. One day he meets Miloni (Sanya), a CA by profession. After a chain of events, he convinces her to pretend to be his girlfriend Noori in front of his ailing grandmother, just to avoid conversation around his marriage. However, soon, the two develop a bond.

Zoya Akhtar, Anupam Kher , Anurag Kashyap, Ritesh Batra are among the four Indians who have been invited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to the Oscars 2019. In a special announcement made by the Academy, this is to enhance diversity and inclusivity. Anupam Kher has had an extensive career both in India and the West. The actor was last seen in Hotel Mumbai and The Big Sick.Meanwhile, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, who has been invited in the directors category, is living glory of her recent release Gully Boy which was highly appreciated. Anurag Kashyap has received the invitation in the Short Films and Feature Animation category whereas Ritesh Batra has been invited in the writers branch. In the Visual Effects branch, Sherry Bharda of Hichki and Made In India fame and Srinivas Mohan known for his work on and Baahubali: The Beginning have also been invited to the Academy. Last year, Shah Rukh Khan Anil Kapoor Madhuri Dixit Naseeruddin Shah Ali Fazal , Madhabi Mukherjee, Aditya Chopra were among 928 new members who were invited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to the Oscars 2018. The Lunchbox director Ritesh Batra is back with his next titled Photograph , which is also the first Hindi film produced by the Amazon Studios. The film stars actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra in the lead who came together for the first time in this film. The story revolves around a struggling street photographer in Mumbai played by Nawazuddin, who is pressured to marry by his grandmother. He convinces a shy stranger played by Sanya Malhotra to pose as his fiance. The pair develops a connection that transforms them in ways they could not expect. Photograph premiered at the prestigious Sundance film festival and has opened up to great reviews. Director Ritesh Batra and Sanya Malhotra were spotted interacting with the audiences at the screening.The Hollywood Reporter wrote, Photograph is a satisfying, unswoony romance. The film will also have its European premiere at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival that will be held from February 7 through 17. According to the festivals official website, the film will be presented under the Berlinale Special films category. The star is currently shooting for Ritesh Batras Photographer and Netflix Series Sacred Games.It is now known that a film that the actor shot earlier, Monsoon Shootout , will be up for release soon. However, despite always being a thorough professional, Nawazuddin Siddiquis packed schedule does not permit him to promote it at this juncture. Reveals a source, NawazuddinSiddiqui had shot for Guneet Mongas Monsoon Shootout quite a while ago and there were also rumors of the film being shelved. Now that the makers have decided to release it, Nawazuddin was keen on promoting the film. However, his packed schedule does not permit it as his dates were not blocked in advance. Nawazuddinis currently shooting for his web series Secret Games and his movie with Ritesh Batra. He is working around the clock as he is balancing two commitments, several shoots of which are also outdoor. I am so pleased to reunite with Nawazuddin. So much has changed for both of us since we worked together in The Lunchbox.I am really glad hes achieved so much since then. Photograph , reveals Batra, would be predominantly in Hindi. But it would also have English and Gujarati. The director fresh from the success of his new film Our Souls At Night on Netflix, will be stationed in Mumbai with his wife and little daughter until the end of the year.

Id say Lunchbox is one of Indias most celebrated films in the world. Now after that Ritesh has done two international projects with distinguished actors like Robert Redford and Jim Broadbent. Now he will be back to shoot another film in Mumbai. Nawaz is very excited about the project. The Lunchbox was a turning point for Ritesh and for me. I guess weve both grown as artistes since then. So it would be a pleasure to shoot with him again. Sanya Malhotra who played Aamir Khans younger daughter in Dangal has been more or less kept away from the limelight since then with the focus shifted to Fatima Sana Sheikh who played Aamirs elder daughter. Fatima signed the lead opposite Aamir in Yash Raj Films Thugs Of Hindostan while nothing seemed to be happening in Sanyas career. Now we know why. Ritesh Batra had signed her right after Dangal.Says Nawaz, Sanya Malhotra has a terrific role in Riteshs film. I cant reveal much about the film except that we will be seen doing a completely different take on Mumbai as compared with The Lunchbox.We start shooting in Mumbai from October 4.

Where is the eagerly awaited follow-up film to Ritesh Batras The Lunchbox ? Batra who achieved more international acclaim for The Lunchbox than any other Indian film since Satyajit Ray, who wowed the world with Pather Panchali , was gung-ho about the Indian release of The Sense Of An Ending , a screen adaptation of British author Julian Barnes Booker-winning novel featuring a distinguished cast of British actors. The film was originally scheduled to release in India on March 24 and the super-excited director had said to me, The Sense Of An Ending is being brought to India by PVR. I must say its good of them to back my film. It is an English-language film and I didnt expect it would get such an easy release in India. But I am happy to say there are lots of Julian Barnes fans in India as well, and some people who are looking forward to seeing what Ive done after The Lunchbox.I am curious and anxious to see how people react to it. Well, Barnes fans in India, as too Batras have all bowed to Baahubali.March 24 came and went. There was no sign of Batras film in Indian theatres. Reports in a section of the press suggested that the censor board had held up the film for its key love-making scenes. However sources at the censor board pooh-poohed these claims as delaying tactics, saying the film had nothing objectionable. The Sense Of An Ending which opened in the US on 10 March, was then announced for April 7. The new release date in India of the highly acclaimed filmwhich the Washington Post has described as an excellent adaptationhas also come and gone. No sign of this eagerly awaited film! Repeated attempts to get PVR, Ritesh Batras films Indian distributors, to shed some clarity on the mystery of the missing masterpiece was road blocked rudely by key personalities in the company who simply seem to have no interest in the fate of the film .No comment was available from anyone at PVR despite repeated attempts. Why should they comment? Kis mooh se kuch bolenge? PVR is no longer interested in releasing Ritesh Batras The Sense Of An Ending.It is seen as too British for Indian tastes, even if a globally acclaimed Indian director has directed it. Aesthetic and critically acclaimed Hollywood films dont do well in India. The Oscar-winning Moonlight was a flop in India. With The Fast & The Furious 8 and Baahubali 2 ruling the box office this summer season, PVR is not interested in investing money in a brooding introspective British film about an autumnal heros introspection, says an informed source.
