Ameen Sayani. Several celebrities including Nitin MukeshUstad Zakir Hussain and others paid their last respect at his funeral.His rituals and last rite rituals were held in Mumbai.Dalip Tahil and Ila Arun attended the last rites and bid adieu to the radio icon.Ustad Zakir arrived to bid adieu to Ameen Sayani.Veteran singer Nitin Mukesh also snapped at the funeral. Music director Anandji Virji Shah paid his last respects.Ameen Sayani passed away after a heart attack late on Tuesday. The news left the entire entertainment industry in shock.Sayani was born on December 21, 1932, in Mumbai and became a household name for his melodic voice and fascinating flair. Starting off as an English-language broadcaster, he soon switched to Hindi.Sayani became extremely well-known for his popular radio show 'Binaca Geetmala', which entertained people over a long period.Sayani's Geetmala showcased well-known Hindi film music, captivated listeners and became a national phenomenon. His distinctive introduction --"Namaskar bhaiyon aur behno, main aapka dost Ameen Sayani bol raha hoon (Hello everyone, this is your host and friend Ameen Sayani)--made him recognisable to millions of listeners and even came to be emulated.He produced and featured in over 54,000 radio programmes and 19,000 jingles since 1951.Hamid Sayani, Ameen's brother, introduced him to All India Radio, Bombay. Ameen Sayani began his stint with Radio Ceylon in 1952. Sayani was also a part of several movies including 'Bhoot Bungla', 'Teen Devian', 'Boxer,' and 'Qatl'.His demise left a void that can never be filled and his voice will keep echoing long into the future.
Ustad Zakir Hussain who made India proud by bagging three awards at the 66th Grammy Awards, presented in the US on Monday, donned a special Indian Tuxedo for the event designed by Manish Malhotra.Taking to Instagram, designer Manish Malhotra congratulated Zakir Hussain for this achievement.He wrote, "Many congratulations @zakirhq9 Sir for being the first indian artist ever to win 3 Grammy Awards on a single night. They were nominated for the Grammys with other artists like Susana Baca, Bokante, Burna Boy, and Davido.Zakir Hussain's Grammy victory has enthused Indian fans, who celebrated the wins on social media.In a post on X, music composer Ricky Kej, who attended the ceremony, hailed Zakir Hussain and other artists. "Ustad Zakhir Hussain, the living legend creates history by winning 3 Grammys in one night!!! Rakesh Chaurasia wins 2!! .. and I am blessed to witness it," he wrote.Hussain and his collaborators, however, lost out in the 'Best Instrumental Composition' for which John Williams - Helena's Theme picked up the Grammy.He, along with Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer and Rakesh Chaurasia, were nominated in this category for their 'Motion'.The 66th edition of the Grammy Awards was held on Monday in Los Angeles.
MM Keeravaani will be among the recipients of Padma awards, to be conferred by President Droupadi Murmu.Tandon and Keeravani, the composer behind RRR's widely popular number 'Naatu, Naatu' who won the Golden Glode award this year in the category of 'Best Original Song', will receive the Padma Shri -- the fourth highest civilian honour in India.Tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain will be conferred with Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award.The recipients of this year's Padma awards were announced on Wednesday evening.Expressing her gratitude on being picked for the top honour, Tandon said, "Honoured and grateful. Thank you so much, Government of India, for acknowledging my contributions, my life, my passion and purpose -- cinema and the arts, that allowed me to contribute, not only to the film industry, but beyond. I thank all those who guided me through this journey of Art and Craft of Cinema -- all those who held my hand through it, and all those who watched me from their place above. I owe this to my father."Tandon emerged as an A-lister in Bollywood with blockbusters such as 'Mohra', 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari', 'Satta', 'Shool', and many more.She received a lot of appreciation for her performance in the pan-India blockbuster 'KGF 2'.Keeravaani, who has got the world dancing to his tunes in 'Naatu Naatu' from the period action-drama 'RRR', also bagged an Oscar nomination in the 'Best Original Song' category.'Naatu Naatu' also fetched the composer the Critics Choice award.Ustad Zakir Hussain had previously received the Padma Shri in 1988 and the Padma Bhushan in 2002.
