Naomika Saran, Rajesh Khannas granddaughter, to debut in romantic comedy opposite Vedang Raina: Report

17 Oct 2025

The next chapter of the KhannaKapadia film legacy is about to begin. Naomika Saran, granddaughter of iconic actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, is all set to make her Bollywood debut with a Dinesh Vijanproduced romantic comedy under the banner of Maddock Films. Naomika Saran, Rajesh Khannas granddaughter, to debut in romantic comedy opposite Vedang Raina: Report The film, expected to go on floors by mid-2026, will pair Naomiak Saran opposite Vedang Raina, who was last seen in the Alia Bhattproduced Jigra (2024). According to a report by Mid-Day, the young debutante has been preparing intensively for her first film over the past year, with workshops in acting and dance designed to polish her craft before stepping into the spotlight. Naomiak Saran is the daughter of Rinke Khanna, who made her own acting debut in Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi (1998), and the niece of Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar. Though she belongs to one of Bollywoods most celebrated families, Naomika has largely stayed away from the media glare until recently, when her frequent visits to Maddock Films office set off speculation about her debut. Interestingly, the project initially had Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, attached as the male lead. However, after discussions and scheduling conflicts, the role was recast with Vedang Raina. A source told Mid-Day, Vedang and Naomika have great chemistry. When the team saw them together, it just clicked. Vedang is currently shooting for an Imtiaz Ali film and will move on to this project next. The romantic comedy will reportedly be directed by a fresh face from the Maddock Films stable, aligning with producer Dinesh Vijans ongoing strategy of blending young talent with new-age storytelling. Unlike the typical fanfare accompanying star-kid debuts, Naomikas team has chosen a deliberate and low-key approach. Dinesh and his team were clear they didnt want to announce her debut until she was completely ready, the source added.

This led to a midnight dash to the vet to get my 'celebration' pumped out of his stomach.""These things only happen to me, which is why I'll never run out of stories. Mr Jeeves is a little tired but fine, and so am I. A big shout out to my friend and editor, @chikisarkar We fight over every story but, dare I say, produce some winners. PS Since Freddie Mercury and his music play a prominent role in Welcome to Paradise, I thought this was the perfect song," concluded her note.

Hours before the premiere, the cast shared their emotions, ranging from excitement to nervousness, as they prepared to present their work to the audience.Director Saurabh Shukla on Tuesday expressed his happiness about being part of IFFI. While speaking to the media, he said, "I feel very good coming to IFFI. It's a wonderful platform. This is the 55th year, which means it has been around for 55 years, and it's a beautiful festival. I am very happy. I think this is the very first time that any of my films has been shown at IFFI."When asked whether he is a tough director, Shukla said, "Only the actors can talk about their experience. But I think we had great fun making the film, and I had a wonderful cast. One of my dream casts was Dimple Kapadia ma'am and Pankaj Kapur sahab. It felt like a dream come true."Pankaj Kapur shared his nervousness and excitement about watching the film with the audience. He said, "I'm very nervous because I'll be watching the film with the audience. I have absolutely no idea how the film has turned out. Those that do are more evolved and perform better in all areas. If our country continues to show this much love, respect, and importance to cinema, then young filmmakers and actors will definitely have beautiful stories to tell. And if the government supports them, there's nothing better."National Award-winning actress Manasi Parekh added, "It feels like I've come back home. This is my first red carpet at IFFI, so I'm very excited because Jab Khuli Kitaab gave me the chance to work with such legendary actors. We're all watching the film for the first time, so it being a world premiere makes it amazing for us as well."

Prem Chopra recalls how Raj Kapoor approached him for 'Bobby'

28 Feb 2024

Bobby', Bollywood ubiquitous villain Prem Chopra said he could 'do anything' for him. While the legendary actor only had a brief appearance in the film, which starred debtants Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia as the lead pair, Chopra wowed audiences with his evergreen one-liner "Prem Naam Hai Mera...Prem Chopra (The name is Prem...Prem Chopra)".In an exclusive interview with ANI, one of Indian cinema's most loved villains said, "Raj Kapoor, as we all know, was a genius. He approached me for a role in this film (Bobby). By then, I was already an established actor and had already received many awards. However, when he offered me a role in the film, I said 'okay'. I remember telling him, 'I will work with you. Who wouldn't?' He then told me that the role he had in mind for me was a special appearance. I told him, 'I can do anything for you, but I have a problem. I have done many big films with Dilip Sahab and other greats. I even shared equal screen space with them'. To this, he said, 'I need you for this role'. I said 'Okay'.""I remember asking Raj Sahab about my dialogues and scenes. All he said was 'Batayenge batayenge' (I will share the details in time). Later, he told me that I have just one dialogue in the film, which is: 'Prem, Prem naam hai meraPrem Chopra'. At first, I couldn't believe his words. Then I caught Premnath (actor) sitting close by I asked him if Raj Kapoor Saheb said I have just one dialogue in the film and, if so, would that be fitting. To this, he said, 'If this film becomes a hit, you will be the talk of the town'," Chopra said.He said it was that single dialoague that most of his fans still remember him by."That one line became such a rage that even when we did shows overseas, the audience would request me to say it on stage. Even now, wherever I go, people, even youngsters, start chanting 'Prem naam hai mera...Prem Chopra'," he added.'Bobby' also starred yesteryear actors Prem Nath as Jack Braganza and Pran as Ram Nath. The movie became a blockbuster and the second-highest-grosser in the seventies at the Indian box office.
