Filmmaker Mohit Suri has marked the extraordinary success of his latest film Saiyaara with a gesture that reflects both gratitude and compassion. As the film inches toward the Rs. 300 crore club in India, Suri chose to step away from conventional Bollywood celebrations and instead organized a food distribution drive in Mumbai. #Mohit Suri Mohit Suri celebrates Saiyaaras success with bhog distribution at Shree Mukteshwar Devalaya temple in Juhu Saiyaara , which released on July 18, has become a box office phenomenon. Starring two fresh faces Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda the film has won over audiences with its emotional storyline, memorable music, and striking performances. In a touching celebration of the films rising success, Suri visited the Shree Mukteshwar Devalaya temple in Juhu on August 2. There, he sought blessings and was later seen distributing bhog to devotees and the needy a symbolic act of sharing the joy of the films journey with the larger community. Known for directing emotional blockbusters like Aashiqui 2 , Suri has once again proven his ability to connect with audiences through storytelling and now, through thoughtful action as well. With Saiyaara continuing its dream run at the box office and capturing hearts nationwide, Suris celebration stands out not just for its humility, but for the message it sends success feels richer when shared.
Saiyaara is a film of many firsts. It marks the much-anticipated debut of Ahaan Panday and also the first time that Mohit Suri has teamed up with Yash Raj Films (YRF). It is also the first time that Akshaye Widhani has turned producer. And now, it has come to light that it is also the first theatrical release of YRF, which has Netflix as its OTT partner. #Saiyaara REVEALED: Saiyaara becomes the FIRST YRF film to stream on Netflix AFTER its unstoppable theatrical run The Netflix logo appears during the end credit song, making it clear that the streaming giant has come on board for the romantic, musical saga. The development is significant because, until now, all films of YRF have been released on Amazon Prime after the completion of their theatrical run. With Saiyaara , a new chapter has been written between the prestigious production house and the global streaming giant. Interestingly, this is not the first time that both have come together for a project. YRF established its vertical, YRF Entertainment, which dabbles in making web series and digital films and also focuses on content for international audiences. The first digital drop from this vertical was The Romantics. The docu-series premiered on Netflix on February 14, 2023 and honoured Yash Chopra and Yash Raj Films rich cultural legacy of 50 years. This was followed by The Railway Men the same year. Starring Kay Kay Menon, R Madhavan, Divyenndu and Babil Khan, the thrilling mini-series paid a tribute to the railway workers at Bhopal station, also the unsung heroes of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy. In 2024, YRF unveiled Maharaj , which marked the debut of Junaid Khan. The controversial courtroom drama also starred Sharvari, Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey. In November, the slice-of-life sports film, Vijay 69 , starring Anupam Kher, arrived on the OTT platform and won hearts. Just last week, YRFs big-budget mystery show, Mandala Murders , starring Vaani Kapoor, released on Netflix. Earlier this year, at a grand Netflix event, YRF Entertainment announced that they have one more show in the offing, Akka , starring Keerthy Suresh, Radhika Apte and Tanvi Azmi. Coming back to Saiyaara , this Ahaan Pandey-Aneet Padda starrer continues to rule in cinemas and is all set to cross the Rs. 300 crore mark by the end of its third weekend. As it happens with any other Hindi theatrical release, the Netflix premiere of Saiyaara will not happen anytime soon, more so when the film is unstoppable at the box office.
The Saiyaara craze has taken the country by storm, catapulting Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda to instant fame. During a recent conversation with Komal Nahta, director Mohit Suri shared that Ahaan was initially supposed to debut in a grand YRF project, but it was ultimately scrapped. He also mentioned spending four months working closely with Ahaan to help him look more mature on screen. Mohit Suri reveals Ahaan Pandays YRF debut was scrapped post-covid; says, His pride and confidence were completely shattered Mohit Suri revealed that Ahaan and Aneet each had distinct paths leading up to their debut. He said, Ahaan has been doing acting workshops with YRF for the last seven years. Before COVID, Ahaan and YRF were planning a grand, larger-than-life film. But post-COVID, cinema changed, and the project was dropped. The same guy who was telling everyone about his big launchhis pride and confidence were completely shattered. He went on to say, People began asking him, Werent you supposed to be launched by YRF? What happened now? I just know that Aditya Chopra called him after COVID and told him, My faith in you hasn't diminished, but I wont mind if you start your career elsewhere. But Ahaan responded, No, Ill be launched by YRF only. Vo bach gaya. kyunki agar pehle launch hota toh bhut chota lagta. I spent four months with him to make him appear more mature. The romantic musical drama follows the journey of Krrish Kapoor (Ahaan Panday), a struggling musician in pursuit of fame and success. Along the way, he meets Vaani Batra (Aneet Padda), an aspiring journalist who later becomes his lyricist. As their relationship blossoms into love, they face several hurdles that put their connection and strength to the test. The film resonated deeply with audiences and has gone on to become the highest-grossing love story in Indian cinema.
Mohit Suris romantic flick Saiyaara , starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, is all set to release this Friday, July 18. The excitement for it is tremendous due to the enticing trailer, hit soundtrack and the association of Mohit Suri and Yash Raj Films. The censor process has been completed and, in this exclusive feature, well focus on the cuts given to the film. #Saiyaara EXCLUSIVE: After Superman, CBFC now censors Saiyaaras intimate scenes; 10 seconds of sensual, body exposure visuals deleted Saiyaara has been passed with a U/A 16+ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, the makers were asked to make certain changes. At four places, objectionable words were censored and replaced with appropriate words. The cut list doesnt specify the cuss words and the replaced terms. Secondly, the makers were instructed to delete and replace 10 seconds of sensual, intimacy, body exposure visuals. Lastly, they were told to add a static disclaimer on helmet safety in scenes involving two-wheeler vehicles. Once these changes were made, the censor certificate was handed to the makers of Saiyaara. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 156.50 minutes. In other words, Saiyaara is 2 hours, 36 minutes and 50 seconds long. This is the second consecutive week when a films sensual scenes faced the Censors scissors. Last weeks Superman was passed by the CBFC with a U/A 13+ certificate, but on the condition that the studio delete 33-second-long sensual visuals, spread across two scenes. broke this story and it led to widespread anger among moviegoers. The news went viral even among the Western media and fans. Coming back to Saiyaara , it is all set for a big opening and if all goes well, can also open in double digits. As of Wednesday morning, it sold a whopping 45,000 tickets in the national chains 33,500 tickets in PVR Inox and 11,500 tickets in Cinepolis. It also sold 2,059 tickets in the MovieMax chain.
Mohit Suris intense romantic drama Saiyaara , starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, will release this Friday, July 18, and trade expects it to have a surprise opening. The producers, Yash Raj Films (YRF), are also distributing the film and they informed all cinemas about the release strategy yesterday. #Saiyaara EXCLUSIVE: Yash Raj Films release strategy for Saiyaara REVEALED no show before 9:30 am, only 6 shows on release day, discounted ticket price for 9:30 am show to attract college students An exhibition source told , YRF has asked all the cinemas that the shows of Saiyaara should start from 9:30 am onwards. This means that theatres cant play shows very early in the morning. Secondly, theatres have been instructed that they cant play more than 6 shows on July 18. This particular directive, however, is applicable only for the day of release. From Saturday, July 19, theatres can play as many shows as they wish to. The source continued, To attract the youth, YRF has come up with two special initiatives. One is widely known, that is, if one uses the code SAIYAARA on BookMyShow, the patron can get a discount of 50%. This is valid on a minimum of 2 tickets and the discount will be up to Rs. 200. Thats not all. YRF has also told the theatres that the first show of the day, that is, the one at 9:30 am, should be specially priced to attract the college-going audience. YRF further said that the rest of the shows of the day should have the normal weekend rate. A trade expert commented, By having just six shows in a day, the occupancy will be higher in all shows. Also, India is a price-conscious country. As a result, the BookMyShow offer will entice people. Lastly, by having cheaper ticket rates in the morning, many would be enticed to go for the early show. In fact, using the 50% discount offer in the morning show will ensure that the youth can watch the film at a very dirt-cheap price. Earlier, morning shows used to be crowded by the under-25 population but this trend took a hit in many centres in the post-pandemic era. Hopefully, with Saiyaara , this trend will be reversed. Saiyaara is the second film in recent times that has come up with out-of-the-box release strategies to attract moviegoers. Last months hit, Sitaare Zameen Par , starring Aamir Khan, also followed certain interesting ideas like no show before 11:00 am and only four shows between 11:00 and 5:00 pm on release day.
