New Delhi [India], March 21 : Actor Vijay Devarakonda and Prakash issued a clarification on Thursday following the allegations on them for allegedly promoting illegal betting and gambling apps through their social media platforms. In a press statement, Deverakonda's team clarified that the actor entered into a contract with the company as a brand ambassador for skill-based games and endorsed the company in regions and territories where online skill-based games were legally permitted. The statement read, "This is to inform the public and all concerned parties that Vijay Deverakonda has officially entered into a contract with a company solely for the limited purpose of serving as a brand ambassador for skill-based games. His endorsement was strictly confined to regions and territories where online skill-based games are legally permitted."It continued, "It is important to clarify that skill-based games, including online games such as rummy, have been repeatedly recognized by the Honourable Supreme Court of India as distinct from gambling or gaming. The court has upheld that such games involve skill rather than chance, making them legally permissible."On the same day, Prakash Raj also issued a clarification through a self-made video which he posted on his X handle. He admitted to doing an advertisement for a gaming app but later refused to continue as it didn't feel right to him. Taking to his X handle, he said, "I have not received anything from the police station or any summons as such, and when it does, I will deploy, but I think it's my responsibility to reply and clear things for you."The actor continued, "In 2016, people approached me for a gaming app, and I did do it. But within a few months, my conscience, maybe it was legal but I thought that it was not right. But I couldn't do anything, so I let it go for a year's contract. Immediately when they wanted to renew, I said no. My conscience doesn't accept that I don't want to continue."Raj claimed that he had not done any advertisements since then. He said, "This happened around 8-9 years back, and since then, I have not done any ads which promote online gambling. Now, in 2021-22, this company must have been sold to somebody else, and when they put these snippets of me on a few social media, we did send them a notice. In an email, I said look. No, I am not part of it. You can't illegally use it. It has expired. They stopped after that. This is my reply."My response #SayNoToBettingAps#justasking Prakash Raj (@prakashraaj) March 20, 2025The Telangana police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against 25 celebrities and influencers, including popular figures like Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda, and Manchu Lakshmi, for allegedly promoting illegal betting and gambling apps through their social media platforms. The FIR was filed at the Miyapur Police Station in Hyderabad following a complaint by 32-year-old businessman PM Phanindra Sarma. In his complaint, Sarma claimed that during a conversation with youth in his community on March 16, he discovered many individuals had been influenced to invest their money in these gambling apps, which were heavily advertised by social media personalities.

'Mukhbir - The Story of a Spy' is the untold story of India's secret agent who led India to evade several aggressive advances from the enemy country by providing intelligence and by helping India win the 1965 war.Produced by Victor Tango Entertainment, the series spans across 8 episodes and is a tribute to those unsung heroes who live in the shadows and give their life for the safety of the country. This series is an intimate look into the sacrifices they make for their country without ever being named or celebrated. As seen in the trailer, 'Mukhbir - The Story of a Spy' has a solid ensemble cast consisting of veteran actors like Prakash Raj, Adil Hussain and Harsh Chhaya and newcomers including Zain Khan Durrani and Zoya Afroz. The show is an edgy spy thriller as it unfolds the fate of India at a time when the country could not afford one more war and its future depended on one risky mission led by a secret agent in an enemy country.Helmed by Shivam Nair, who is known for films like 'Naam Shabana' and 'Special Ops', in association with Jayprad Desai.Talking about the film director Shivam Nair and Jayprad Desai said, "In India, we haven't dabbled much in the genre of 'Historical Fiction'. Mukhbir, set against the backdrop of the 1965 Indo-Pak war and inspired by true events tells a fictionalised story of an Indian spy whose information helped India win the war. With the limbs of spy thriller, Mukhbir at its heart is a human drama. While the unfolding of the plot will keep the audience glued to their screens, the inherent dilemma of a man torn in between his duty and heart will move them deeply. We are proud to lead this show that is special to all of us involved and we hope that Mukhbir touches the hearts of the viewers and leaves an everlasting impact on them".Prakash Raj shared, "Mukhbir celebrates the bravery and the sacrifices of the unsung heroes of India, the spies and I am glad to be a part of such a remarkable project. These spies go unnoticed despite their silent but monumental work and hence, Mukhbir is our tribute to their self-less efforts".Adil Hussain said, "I am especially inclined towards stories which move the viewers and inspires them to go beyond the ordinary. Mukhbir is one such story which will appeal to every Indian across the globe. Also, it was exciting to work with the talented director duo of Shivam Nair and Jayprad Desai who have notable experience and expertise in this genre".Zain Khan Durranisaid, "I could not have asked for a better project than Mukhbir to mark my OTT debut. I have grown up in Kashmir and have seen first-hand the challenges faced by the people during riots and wars so being a part of Mukhbir was even more emotional for me. The minute I read the script, I knew that I had to take it up as the character is so inspiring. Mukhbir is the story of a brave man who defied the odds and single-handedly enabled India to evade several aggressive advances from the enemy country during the 1965 war. The story not only explores his bravery but also his vulnerabilities which makes the character so endearing and real. I hope that the show strikes a chord with everyone connected to or belonging to our country". 'Mukhbir - The Story of a Spy' is all set to premiere exclusively on ZEE5 from November 11, 2022.
John Abraham is all ready to step up the action game with his next production venture, Attack. The film that has been postponed multiple times in the past owing to the COVID-19 pandemic is finally set to hit the silver screens on Republic Day weekend next year. Also starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Rakul Preet Singh, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Prakash Raj in the lead roles, the film has been termed as the "mother of all action films" and is being planned to be made into a huge action film franchise. Now, Bollywood Hungama has learnt that John Abraham is playing a robotic character in this hardcore action film something the Hindi film industry has never attempted before. Sources close to the development have revealed that Abraham is playing a mercenary soldier with a superhuman ability in this taut thriller set against a hostage crisis. His character is believed to be more along the lines of Hollywood's Deadpool and G.I. Joe and will see him performing some never-seen-before daredevil, high-octane action sequences that have been choreographed by international stunt coordinator Ryan Sturz of Captain Marvel fame.Bollywood Hungama has also learnt that Attack revolves around a fictional attack in the Parliament where many people are held hostage. John Abraham who leads an "Attack team" is deployed for the rescue mission, and the rest of the film is the story of a race against time. An intelligent thriller with a strong storyline, the film marks the directorial debut of Lakshya Raj Anand who has previously assisted filmmakers Kabir Khan and Siddharth Anand on Ek Tha Tiger and Bang Bang respectively. Produced by John Abraham in association with Dheeraj Wadhwan and Ajay Kapoor's Kyta Productions, the film has been written by Lakshya Raj Anand, Vishal Kapoor, and Sumit Batheja.Meanwhile, John Abraham will next be seen in Milap Zaveri's masala entertainer Satyameva Jayate 2 that arrives in theatres on November 25.
