Salmans Ek Tha Tiger - Copy or not

13 Sep 2012

Even as the run of Salman Khan starrer Ek Tha Tiger is coming to a close after registering collections close to Rs. 200 crores just in India, it recently found itself in the middle of a controversy. A writer alleged that the producers went ahead and made the film on the basis of his script despite telling him that the one submitted by him had been rejected. However, Neelesh Mishra, co-writer of Ek Tha Tiger, has vehemently denied the charges and even challenged the writer to prove his charge.

"Some so-called writer has gone to court saying Kabir Khan and I stole his idea for Ek Tha Tiger. I don't use foul language in public or private so let me just say this politely - 'We haven't worked sincerely and honestly in our careers for more than 20 years to have our integrity questioned like this", Neelesh said on a social networking site.

However, the fact of the matter is that based on the complaint, the police have already registered an FIR against Aditya Chopra and Kabir Khan under charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust and violation of Copyright Act.

On charges of stealing the script, Neelesh said, "We started work on the film in October 2009 and I have emails to prove it. This writer apparently claims that he registered his work in March 2011. I have nothing more to add. I dare him to prove it because otherwise I am going to sue him for damages till kingdom come."

Looks like one hasn't heard the last of Ek Tha Tiger. Guess how the story would turn when the tiger himself, read Salman Khan, comes down charging.
