Court orders cuts in Jolly LLB 2, producers implement, censor board miffed

9 Feb 2017

High drama unfolded at the Censor Board office in Mumbai on Tuesday when the producers of Jolly LLB 2 approached the censors to get approval of the cuts ordered by the honourable court. The censor board refused to express their approval of the cuts ordered by the honourable court. Says CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani , The cuts ordered by the honourable Bombay High Court were implemented by the producers and brought to us on Tuesday. We were instructed by the honourable courts to issue a fresh certificate with the new cuts by 5 pm on Wednesday. We did the needful a day earlier on Tuesday. We very clearly stated that the cuts were ordered by the honourable court. We had nothing to do with it. Whatever we had to delete or cut we had done already before. We maintain that Jolly LLB 2 is a light-hearted harmless look at the judiciary with no objectionable content. However the honourable court didnt agree with us. And we must respect that. Contrary to what has been reported, the 4 cuts ordered by the honourable court are all part of one scene, and not four different scenes. Adds Nihalani, If the honourable courts are going to decide what is right or wrong in a films content, what is the purpose of the CBFC?
