OMG Oh My God banned in UAE

28 Sep 2012

What's the point of similarity between Mausam, Raaz 3, Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum and the today's release OMG Oh My God! ? Before you start racking your brains, let us tell you that these are the names of those films that have been banned in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This ban has translated into a loss of Rs. 20 crore in just the past one year! Vikram Malhotra of Viacom18 Motion Pictures said that they have lost at least Rs. 4 crore on OMG Oh My God! with this ban.

UAE however has its own reasons to axe these films. Ekta Kapoor's Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum and Raaz 3 got banned due to its sexually explicit contents. Talking about this ban, Mahesh Bhatt said that while UAE is a sovereign nation, they have their own set of rules. And since we are a free country, we are bound to feel that their rules are harsh. He also added that it's terribly depressing if the UAE censors reject any film. Taran Adarsh said that the scene is unlikely to change and that it's always going to be a 'try your luck' situation in UAE. Taran added that India is losing a very big chunk of money. He cited the example of Raaz 3, wherein despite Emraan Hashmi being hot favourite there, the film failed to release there.
