Prakash Jha gets all cuts restored in Chakravyuh

10 Oct 2012

No matter how our respected Prime Minister takes it, the political song ' Mehngaai ' in Prakash Jha's Chakravyuh would make a slanted reference to him. The line ' Bahut Dekhi Teri Sardari ' which was cut out by the Examining Committee (EC) was earlier this week restored by the Revision Committee (RC). The Censor Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) has two committees, the EC and the RC. And when a filmmaker is unhappy with the cuts ordered by the EC, he goes to the RC. This is what Prakash Jha did with his Chakravyuh , and got most of the cuts restored. And that includes the provocative line in the song alluding to enough of a certain leader's 'Sardari'. Speaking on the victory, Prakash Jha said, "We went to the Revision Committee and they saw our point of view. Most of the cuts have been restored. Only one shot, we've been asked to blur." It's a shot showing a chopped ear. Says Jha appreciatively, "I must say the Censor Board has shown exemplary courage. There are references in my film to much frustration and bitterness within the ranks of the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force). Which government in the world allows self-criticism so liberally? As for the cuts that have now been restored, they were largely verbal. I am glad the Censor Board finally saw my point of view." Watch Promo: Chakravyuh
