Saqib Saleem to play skating coach in Amole Gupte's next

15 May 2013

Saqib who is garnering rave reviews for his role as the gay journalist in Bombay Talkies is all set to play a pivotal role in actor-director-activist Amole Gupte's next directorial venture which would centre on the sport of roller-skating.

While Amole who is known to work closely with street children remained tight lipped about the project, a source close to the project informs, "It's a project very close to Amole's heart. He wanted to make this film immediately after he worked closely with Aamir Khan on Taare Zameen Par . But since the role required a large number of children to be trained in roller-skating and also a leading man who could look convincing as their coach, Amole put the project on hold and made Stanley Ka Dabba first." The film requires the protagonist to be an expert on roller skates. Saqib has begun to learn roller skating from scratch.

It is the story of how a bunch of kids are brought together for a roller skating tournament. Saqib plays the coach.

And yes, Amole Gupte's very talented son Partho who stole innumerable hearts in Stanley Ka Dabba would be playing a pivotal role.

The film would be shot during the summer vacations to ensure the kids' studies and school is not affected.
