23 Jun 2012

Nagesh Kukunoor's next titled Laxmi deals with the issue of human trafficking, not surprisingly so.

The director who is known to make issue based and women centric films, tells the story of a 13-year-old-girl who was pushed into prostitution and was rescued from it later. It is apparently based on a true story.

A well-placed source close to the director of the much acclaimed films, Iqbal and Dor reveals, "Nagesh has always felt strongly about the issue of human trafficking. This is something that has always bothered him. But he was waiting for a right story to come his way. He felt very moved when he heard about the heart wrenching story of Laxmi and decided to make a movie on it. He feels this story needs to be told to the world."

The source further divulges, "The film will be shot in Hyderabad which not only happens to be Nagesh's native place but also his favourite city. His first film Hyderabad Blues and the sequel was also set in the city of pearls. Nagesh plans to shoot the movie in the red light area of Hyderabad."

"The casting on the film is going on and the film which is expected to go the floor soon.", informs the source.
