Bhansali didnt want married Kareena for Ram Leela

10 Jul 2012

While Kareena Kapoor claims to have walked out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ambitious project Ram Leela, sources close to the filmmaker claim that she was shown the door by the director as he didn't want a married woman to play Juliet, in his desi adaptation of 'Romeo Juliet'.

Sanjay felt that it would be difficult for Kareena to pass herself as Juliet once she is married. Apparently, Sanjay was kept in the dark about Kareena's wedding plans. Her wedding, which is slated for October this year, was clashing with the shooting schedule of Ram Leela. Kareena also needed a month to promote Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine, which releases in September and that would further delay the shoot of Ram Leela.

Sanjay, who was extremely keen to work with Kareena, holds no grudge against the actress.

This is the fourth time Bhansali and Kareena had come close to working with each other. Bhansali had earlier offered Kareena Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Bajirao Mastani (which never got made).
