Javed Akhtar turns lyricist for Mohenjo-Daro

19 Dec 2014

Ashutosh Gowariker has time and again maintained that Mohenjo-Daro is one of his most ambitious projects and the producer-director isn't leaving any stone unturned to make it the film of the year. This period drama will have music composed by his favourite music director and friend A R Rahman and the film will also have lyrics penned by the veteran award winning writer Javed Akhtar.

Not only is it the collaboration of the trio (Rahman, Akhtar and Ashutosh) after Jodhaa Akhbar , but also, Javed Akhtar will be writing the lyrics for a film after almost four years. For the past couple of years, the veteran poet and lyricist has been caught up in a controversy due to his fight for copyright royalty issues with a few writers. Hence, according to Javed Akhtar, he has been 'unemployed' for a while and has now decided to return to Bollywood with a bang with a magnum opus like Mohenjo-Daro . Set in the Indus Valley civilization, Mohenjo-Daro is an adventurous love story, starring Hrithik Roshan and debutant Pooja Hegde. Produced by AGGPL in association with UTV, Mohenjo-Daro is slated to release on January 22, 2016.

On the other hand, Javed Akhtar will turn lyricist for yet another film which will be Vipul Shah's upcoming directorial, a contemporary love story.
