Aamir Khan publicly apologizes to Kamal Haasan

26 Mar 2015

As a popular saying goes, 'It's really easy to hurt someone, but very tough to apologize' and Aamir Khan has done just that. He, in an open forum at the FICCI Frames 2015, publicly apologized to Kamal Haasan for 'not standing by him when he was passing turbulent times during the release of his film Vishwaroopam in 2013'.Speaking at the interactive session post the inauguration of the event, Aamir Khan said, "I take this opportunity to apologize to you, Mr. Kamal Haasan, for not standing by you when your film was banned in 2013. I was lost in my work. But, I want to apologize to you that I wasn't there at that time. I read about it later and felt so bad about it, that you had to go through all that. I think we all filmmakers should stand by each other in such cases and I should have supported you during those trying times." In response, Kamal Haasan gracefully accepted the apology smilingly and later, was spotted bonding with the superstar during FICCI Frames.

The controversy of Vishwaroopam fueled up two years ago wherein some Islamic groups objected to the film's content and had asked for a ban on it. Though it started off as a mild issue, it later led to national level debates and with the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalitha supporting the ban, the film eventually wasn't released in the state and a few other regions within the country and even foreign ones.

Aamir Khan is currently busy with the preparation for his upcoming film Dangal and wouldn't be having a release this year.
