PKP 2 gets 'A' certificate after makers refuse to mute dialogues

10 Oct 2015

Remember Pyaar Ka Punchnama (PKP) that released in 2011? Well the film that enthralled the audience with its more than witty dialogues is set for a sequel Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (PKP 2) that is slated for release on October 16. Now we hear that while the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had granted the first film a UA certificate its sequel has received an 'Adults Only' certification from the CBFC.

Confirming the same Kumar Mangat the film's producer says, "Yes we have received an 'A' certificate from the CBFC but we always knew that we would get the same. In fact the board did suggest a few alterations to the film with which PKP 2 would have received a UA rating, but we preferred to retain the objectionable portions and go with an Adults only rating." Further adding Abhishek Pathak says, "Since the release of PKP in 2011, there have been a lot of changes in the CBFC's guidelines, and due to that we have received an 'A' rating." Elaborating on the same Abhishek asserts, "See what worked for the first film were the dialogues, the unabashed, true to life kind of lingo that we use in daily life. Now we have retained a similar line of dialogues in PKP 2 as well but with the new guidelines that state that even a word like 'saala' must be beeped out, we faced a an impasse where we either had to beep out the words for a 'UA' certificate or retain them and go with an 'A' certificate. After the CBFC's recommendations we did discuss the matter and decided to retain the dialogues as they are and go with the 'A' rating".

Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 that is directed by Luv Ranjan and features an ensemble cast of Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha, Sonalli Sehgall, Ishita Sharma, Omkar Kapoor and Sunny Singh is slated to hit screens on October 16.
