Bharat Shah lodges complaint against RGV

21 Aug 2012

Once upon a time filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma and diamond merchant cum film financer Bharat Shah were close friends. Shah had financed a lot of RGV's projects including the likes of Satya, Mast, Jungle, Company and even RGV Ki Aag. However, now the duo are at loggerheads following a complaint lodged by Shah to the Association of Motion Pictures Television Programme Producers (AMPTPP) against RGV for non-payment of dues to him. The AMPTPP in turn has sent a legal notice to RGV.

Shah claims that he had paid over Rs. 10 crores to RGV over the years and is yet to recover even the principal amount forget the interest. Moreover, Shah is also miffed with RGV's plans of making a sequel to Satya as he believes the filmmaker doesn't have the rights to the cult classic. The AMPTPP is waiting for RGV's response on this matter.
