Sonakshi Sinha to highlight the acid attack issue in Akira

With several Bollywood films bringing forth some bold subjects, Sonakshi Sinha's upcoming action packed film Akira too deals with a major issue - acid attacks. As there has been an increase in the number of acid attacks in the past few years, this A. R. Murugadoss directorial too decided to deal with the subject.

Playing the protagonist Akira is Sonakshi Sinha who recently mentioned that filmmaker A R Murugadoss has portrayed the lives of the victims in the film. She said, "A R Murugadoss has indeed touched upon the burning issue of acid attacks on innocent girls in some parts of our country. It is one of the most important plots in our film as Akira's father decides she should learn self-protection and enrolls her in a karate camp where as girls are generally sent to music or dance or handicraft coaching institutes. It is Akira's father who taught her to stand up for what is right, to not be dependent on anyone by herself." Akira also stars Konkana Sen Sharma and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap in prominent roles. The film is slated to release on September 2. As of now, Sonakshi Sinha is gearing up for multi-city promotion of the film and will be traveling to Jaipur, Chandigarh, Lucknow and Delhi.
