Govinda - Akshay song added to Holiday

23 Jun 2014

It's holiday time for Akshay Kumar. With his new film Holiday: A Soldier's Never Off Duty touching the magic 100-crore mark in India and across Rs 150 crores worldwide, Akshay has left for a well-earned..errr... Holiday.

But only after making sure that a song and dance featuring Akshay with Govinda is added to the film.

The number entitled 'Palang Tod' has a history. Over to Holiday producer Vipul Shah. "We brought Govinda to that role in a guest appearance because there was a situation for the character to dance with Akshay's character. Akshay and Govinda have never been seen dancing together on screen. We thought this was one occasion where they could be seen together, and that too dancing." After the song was shot it was removed from the film.

Explains Vipul, "We felt the number was interrupting the flow of the story, impeding the action. At the time of release we didn't want to take a risk. So we removed the song with the purpose of putting it in later. Now in the third week, when we are confident that our audience is with us, we've put the song into the film." According to insiders the Govinda-Akshay-Sonakshi's 'Palang Tod' song was meant to combat the competition from Humshakals . Going by the initial response of the critics and audience to Humshakals, Holiday has nothing to worry about.

We asked Govinda about the song that he did with Akshay and Sonakshi in Holiday .He said, "Initially people told me the song was not there in the film. I am happy it is in the film now. I had a fantastic time shooting it with Akshay and Sonakshi."
